Qatar 2022: England Good Enough To Reach Semi-finals, Says Wenger

FIFA Chief of Global Development and former Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger believes that England are good enough to reach the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

England reached the last four at the Russia 2018 World Cup before succumbing to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Belgium in the third-place match.

Speaking to journalists, Wenger said: “If you look at the last few years, England should be in the semi-finals at least. They got to the semi-finals in the Euros and then the final in the Euros. But the doubt comes from what had happened over the past year. If they can get over that in their own minds, they have the team that is good enough to reach the semi-finals.”

“In Russia it was all about a deep defensive line and the counter-attacking. This time it will be about the high press, the teams that can play out and have that courage, or the ones who go long. I expect the teams who want the ball to be the most successful,” he added.

England are in the Group B of the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Wales, Iran and the USA.
