Euro 2024: Germany Wants Belarus Axed From Tournament

By Chimezie Nebolisa

Following Belarus support of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Germany have asked UEFA to exclude the Eastern European country from the continental tournament scheduled to be played in 2024.

In a letter submitted to UEFA, Germany Interior Minister Nancy Faeser argued for the suspension of Russia and Belarus from the football body.

“The sporting world must live up to its responsible role and take a united stand against this form of disregard for human rights,” she said.

Germany will be the sole host of the 2024 European Championship as against the previous edition which hosted across countries in Europe.
