Barcelona announce transfer of Brazilian for 20 million euros

La Liga giant Barcelona and EPL, Aston Villa have reached a definitive agreement for the transfer of Philippe Coutinho to the English club for a fee of 20 million euros, as well as reserving 50 percent of any future sale.

The Catalans officially announced the agreement after negotiations between the two clubs in recent days. The Brazilian has been playing on loan at Aston Villa for the last six months.

Coutinho has performed well at Villa under former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard, especially in the first few months of his loan spell, and has connected very well with the fans,

Although he his currently struggling to replicate his former form, but his desire to play for the club has made him sign.

However, they were not willing to pay the 40 million euros that the two clubs had agreed as a purchase option in the loan deal.

Barcelona were willing to compromise in order to free up wage bill and bring in new players, so they agreed to negotiate this amount, which has finally been set at 20m euros.

Coutinho joined Barcelona in January 2018 after lengthy negotiations with Liverpool. The Catalan club wanted him in the summer of 2017, after the departure of Neymar, but then there was no agreement with the English side. In the following winter transfer window there was after a payment of 120m euros plus another 40m in variables.
