After struggles at the beginning of the season,FC Barcelona beat all the odds as they have guaranteed them a spot in UEFA Champions League football next season, thanks to a 2-1 win against Real Betis that was enough to seal the top-four finish in La Liga.

But this is only the beginning of the Xavi Hernandez era, with the club now set to embark on a busy summer transfer window that could witness the addition of several star players to the team.

Reports had it that Barcelona board has started planning ahead for the new season.

They have identified a total of six targets in the coming summer, and believe landing five of those players could be essential if they are to compete for La Liga as well as the Champions League next season.

The list is headed by two players who have already agreed personal terms with Barcelona, in the form of Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie.

Barcelona are reportedly closing in on the capture of their third target in Cesar Azpilicueta. The Chelsea defender has apparently agreed personal terms with the Catalans, and it is up to the Blues to sanction the departure of the experienced Spaniard.

Other players on the list include Robert Lewandowski, Marcos Alonso and Bernardo Silva, with the latter raising a lot of eyebrows as Xavi wants to sign him as a direct replacement for Frenkie de Jong, in an attempt to recreate an old Barça setup.

The operation to sign Lewandowski is getting trickier by the minute, with Bayern having no intention to cash in on their star striker despite his contract expiring in 2023.
