Nations Cup: Andre Ayew Fit For Gabon Clash

Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac has disclosed that Black Stars captain Andre Ayew is fit for Friday’s must-win penultimate Group C clash against Gabon, according to African Football.

Ayew sat out Wednesday’s training session as a precautionary measure citing a health issue that he had before Mondays 1-0 loss to Morocco.

The Ghana captain later sustained a head injury in the match against Morocco in which he played the full 90 minutes.

“Andre Ayew is in stitches but he is fit and okay. Will he be selected for tomorrow? As for selection, I don’t talk about it,” Rajevac was quoted by Ghanasoccernet.

Meanwhile, Ghana are battling to ensure they collect maximum points in their last two games starting with Gabon on January 14 and their final Group C match against AFCON debutants Comoros on January 18.

Victories in both games would guarantee Ghana a top two finish in Group C and avoid the lottery of securing one of the four best third placed spots available for a last 16 place.

Gabon and Morocco have 3 points following similar score line wins over Comoros and Ghana respectively.
