D'Tigress Beat Mali To Win Third Consecutive AfroBasket Trophy

Nigeria women's basketball team, D'Tigress defeated Mali 70-59 in the final of the 2021 FIBA Women's AfroBasket on Sunday.

Nigeria won the first quarter 22-11 to set the pace for an interesting encounter.

The Malians won the second quarter 13-9, while D'Tigress returned back to their best winning the third quarter 28-14, Mali ended the tie by winning the fourth quarter 21-11 but it was too little too late as Nigeria claimed a third consecutive AfroBasket trophy after winning it in 2017 and 2019.

D'Tigress have become the second African team to win the AfroBasket three times in a row after Senegal.

Nigeria's Adaora Elonu and Ezinne Kalu were named in the team of the tournament.

Elonu was also named the player of the tournament.
