Highlife music legend, Dr. Victor Abimbola Olaiya (OON), has commiserated with King Sunny Ade over the death of his mother.

Olaiya said that when he lost his mother about 38 years ago, Sunny Ade was one of the people that really stood by him and this is time to reciprocate.

“Although I cannot perform at the burial, I will be actively involved in the arrangement and ensure that it turns out to be a success. KSA has been a very good brother and colleague and I think this is the best time we can show our support for him,” said Olaiya, the ace trumpeter, whose regular performance continues tomorrow at the Papingo Nite Club of Stadium Hotel, Surulere.

Meanwhile, the burial arrangement of Princess Mariam Adegeye, King Sunny Ade's mother, has been fixed for between 21 and 27 September, 2010.

The ace juju musician noted, while inaugurating a seven-man committee for the burial programme, that he deliberately fixed the burial for the period as he intends to sacrifice his 64th birthday anniversary, which falls on 22 Sepetember, to honour his mother.

The committee which comprises eminent professionals, is headed by a veteran journalist and close associate of the musician, Mr. Clement Ige.

The juju musician said that to cater for all shades of interests, particularly his fans and patrons, the burial will take place in both Lagos and Ondo states.

King Sunny Ade appealed to interested parties to contact the head of the committee in order to avoid those who have been contacting people without his mandate.
