NWFL: Edo Queens Beat DreamStar Ladies In Lagos

DreamStar FC Ladies lost 1-0 to Edo Queens at the Agege Township Stadium on Wednesday in the week two clash of the 2020/2021 NWFL Premiership season.

The first real chance of the encounter was presented to Ajakaye Opeyemi, but her effort was parried out of safety by Edo Queens' goalkeeper.

The visitors took the lead just before the half hour mark when DreamStar Ladies Captain, Juliet Emereole diverted Grace Henry's cross into her own net.

Edo Queens almost scored the second goal as they appeared to be buoyed by the fortunate opener, but Shukurat Bankole raced out of the line to deny Kikelomo Odueke.

Ayatsea Hembafam showed impressive footwork to beat two Edo Queens defenders, but her tame effort failed to hit the target.

Tessy Biahwo's header flew inches wide as Edo Queens bumped forward in search of the second goal.

The first half ended 1-0 in favor of the visitors, who were fortunate to go into the break with the lead.

DreamStar FC Ladies came out with a renew vigour to get back into the game after the restart.

Anya Ugochi made an early change in the first half replacing Tosin Ogundeko with Yunusa Zainab in a bid to add more urgency to the attacking third.

Anuoluwapo Salisu was a thorn in the flesh for Edo Queens as she showed her mettle once again with incisive passes and accurate delivery coupled with her unrivalled work rate.

Edo Queens goalkeeper Christy Ohiariaku produced a stunning save to deny Ajakaye from close range as the hosts gave everything in search of a leveler.

Edo Queens attacker, Chioma Wogu was sent off late in the game for two bookable offences.

The Pride Of Lagos dominated proceedings for major part of the game and showed promise to the admiration of the spectators, but they were unable to score as Edo Queens earned the maximum points.

The Galacticas have a date with Abia Angels at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Wednesday, December 23rd.
