Manchester City gave Liverpool a guard of honour and proceeded to wallop the Champions 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

The Reds ended their 30 years wait for a Premier League title when Chelsea defeated Man City last week.

Kelvin De Bruyne opened the scoring for the hosts from the spot after Sterling was fouled by Gomez.

Raheem Sterling scored against Liverpool for the first time since leaving the club in 2015 when he finished off a swift counter attack.

Phil Foden also got on the act when he scored his seventh goal of the season after a quick one-two with De Bruyne.

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain diverted into his own net to complete a miserable night for Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp has described Manchester City as an incredible team and he said his team were not focused.

Klopp told Sky Sports: "Is the game important to us? I saw a brilliant attitude.

"They were quicker than us in mind. We lacked fluidity. Against Man City you have massive problems. We had moments. We had chances, we didn't use them. The result we have to take.

"If you want to lead this story in direction we were not focused, then do it. I liked my team's attitude. Isn't it nice another team can be champions when Man City can play so well?

"Man City are incredible. I saw their season, they didn't play a bad game."
