Manchester City returned to Premier League action with a resounding 3-0 victory over Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.

Action resumed after the league was put on hold for three months due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Manchester City started the match with sense of urgency and they wanted to score an early goal but all their efforts were thwarted by Arsenal's Goalkeeper, Bernd Leno who was in an inspired form.

Things changed for the worse when David Luiz replaced Pablo Mari, who was subbed off because of injury in the 23rd minute.

The Brazilian Defender was at fault for City's first goal when be failed to clear the ball which led to Sterling's opener for the Defending Champions just before half time.

Luiz completed a miserable night for himself and Arsenal when he tugged Riyad Mahrez's shirt in the 18-yard-box with no intention to play the ball, he was sent off and City were awarded a penalty.

Kevin De Bruyne made no mistake from the spot as his effort beat Leno to increase City's lead and set them on course to another victory over Arsenal.

Substitute Phil Foden put the icing on the cake when he capitalized on Aguero's rebound to put the game beyond Arsenal in the 91st minute.

Manchester City have won their past seven matches against Arsenal in all competitions, extending their best ever winning run against the Gunners.
