Nobody Can Choose Players For Me - Rohr

By Ibrahim Taiwo, The Nigerian Voice Sports

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, has revealed that he has the free hand to choose players that will play for Nigeria.

It has been reported in the media in the last few weeks, that Rohr is not in charge of selecting players for the team.

The former Tanzania coach has debunked the reports and he has revealed the process of selecting players for the Super Eagles.

In March, Nosa Igiebor said he was denied the opportunity to play for Nigeria because he was not playing in a top league, Rohr said he invites good players irrespective of where they ply their trades.

“It is not a part of my contract to take players who are not so good. I can choose my players myself. It is the most important [thing]. So, nobody can tell me ‘You have to pick this one or that one,” Rohr told Channels TV.

“I can take the best players and I don’t do it alone. We have a team and our staff. I have my assistant, I have my analyzer.

“Each Monday we have our meetings and we speak about the games played at the weekend and what our players did. We have to take the best ones no matter where they are coming from.”

Rohr recently signed a new deal with the Nigeria Football Federation extending his stay to 2022.
