The hottest battle for recognition and acclaim ever witnessed in the history of Nigerian music is about to happen. Never has any artiste won the award for Song of the Decade, but all that will change at this year's Nigerian Music Awards which comes up in Abuja on Saturday, May 19, 2007.

Which will be the last song standing? Which artiste will stand on the magnificent stage of the International Conference Center in Abuja to receive the once in a life time honour with millions of people around the world glued to their TV sets?

During the past two months, several teams have been working hard to design a system that will give Nigerians a chance to participate in determining who wins the Song of the Decade Award.

Working with showbiz experts at TOPS, the Entertainment Headquarters, leading IT company, iTouch Global Concept has configured an SMS voting system that will allow every Nigerian with a cell phone to cast their vote at any time, day or night for the Song of the Decade.

And for casting a vote and successfully selecting the top five songs, the person will have an opportunity to ride on the Soul Flight to the Awards and hobnob with the men and women of power and influence, wine and dine with the trailblazers and the beauty queens and rub shoulders with the captains of industry - all free of charge. Apart from these, the winner will also go home with a cash prize of N100, 000.

The 15 songs that will battle for the Song of the Decade medal include African Queen (Tu Face Idibia), Akanchawa (Princess Njideka), Bang Bang Bang (Femi Kuti), Busi Bodi (PSquare), Diana (Daddy Showkey), Danfo Driver (Mad Melon & Mountain Black) and Ijoya (Weird MC).
