The defunct hip hop group known as Plantashun Boiz we reliably gathered is seriously warming-up for a come back as pressures from those interested in the regrouping of members and music industry finaciers continue to mount. Last December the trio 2Face, Black Face and Face who make up the defunct group performed at the Obudu Cattle Ranch Resort where the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Donald Duke and his wife Onari were guests of honour.
Speaking with exclusively with MMP on the issue, Blackface said “We would be in the studio very soon to produce an album. Though we have a lot of proposals for the album but we are consdering the one that would be most favourable to us. A lot of music companies are really interested in financing the production of the album.”
Relaible sources informed us that Nigeria's largest investor in the entertainment industry in recent times, Tochukwu Joe aka T-Joe the owner of T-Joe Entertainment, a marketing outfit has finally secured the deal to bankroll the production of the group.This has put to bed speculations from some quarters that Kennis Music is behind the regrouping exercise. Sources informed MMP that T-Joe has paid each of the trio the sum of Ten Million Naira up front and has promised to pay more once the album is released.
Speaking on behalf of 2Face, his personal assistant simply known as Joice said “Yes plantazhun Boiz are coming together to produce an album by I am not ahtorized to disclose the details of the agreement. Efforts to reach Faze as at time of going to the press proved abortive.
Plantazhun Boiz was voted the best Nigerian hip-hop group with their hit singles like 'Knock Me Off', Baby Don't You Know' and debut album 'Body and Soul' (produced in 1998). Later the produced their second album entilted 'Sold Out' before each member decided to go solo.
Having gone solo 2Face released Face 2 Face which till date has made him to be celebrated in Africa and other parts of the world. Face on his went into the studio and produced an album entitled 'Face Alone' with a hit track. While Black Face who pitched hit tent with Da Trybunal recently produced 'Evergreen' with hit track like 'Kolomental and 'Ahead of The Game'.
Though a lot of their fans felt it would be the best for the trio to come back as a group as they still maintain a cordial relationship. But this was not feasible until 2Face released his second album entitled 'Grass to Grace', a 10-track album late last year.
