By Sampson Adedeji

Zamalek Club President Mortada Mansour has confirmed that former Zamalek striker Mohamed

Helmy will return as manager of the club for the second time this year.

Helmy originally resigned following a string of poor results, including two losses against eventual winners

Mamelodi Sundowns in the group stages of the CAF Champions League. The former striker’s overall record

as manager sat at 10 wins, three draws and two losses. Mansour accepted Momen Soliman’s resignation months after Soliman initially filed for resignation, following the 3-1 aggregate loss to the Sundowns in the CAF Champions League Final. Zamalek made a strong start to the current league campaign under Soliman, with four wins out of five. Helmy’s first game as manager of Zamalek this season

will come against El Dakhleya on 3rd of December. Zamalek sit in sixth place on 18 points, with three games in hand over league leaders Al Ahly.
