Nigeria, Egypt friendly may not hold

The much publicized Nigeria and Egypt friendly tie slated for january 2017 in Dubai may not see the light of the day as Egyptians are not willing to bear all the expenses for the game and have even gone ahead to fix another game with Tunisia about the same time.

The match is scheduled for January 9 in Dubai as a tune-up game for the AFCON bound Pharaoh of Egypt. It has now been uncovered that the Egypt vs Nigeria clash may have fallen through because the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are demanding their Egyptian counterparts bear their entire expenses and also because the Super Eagles will not be at full strength for this match.

“It has not yet been officially confirmed but it is looking very likely that the friendly against Egypt in Dubai in January will no longer hold,” a top official informed. “Egypt are not ready it seems to foot all the bills for this game. “And also, they would rather test their readiness for the AFCON against the main Super Eagles than a team of home- based players and untested Europe- based stars.”
