RIBERY TO MISS FINAL

By NBF NEWS

Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery will miss next month's Champions League final after UEFA handed the winger a three-match ban for his dismissal against Lyon.

Ribery was shown a straight red card for a tackle on Lyon's Lisandro Lopez during last week's 1-0 semifinal first-leg win at the Allainz Arena and was suspended for Tuesday night's return leg – a 3-0 victory.

Bayern had hoped UEFA would restrict the Frenchman's ban to one match, but European football's governing body enforced a three-match suspension which rules Ribery out the final in Madrid on May 22 and the opening game of next season's European campaign.

Bayern, who now have three days to appeal the suspension, felt the decision by Italian referee Roberto Rosetti was harsh and called for UEFA to show leniency.
