Manuel Pellegrini bid farewell to the Etihad on Sunday after his last home game as Manchester City manager.

The Chilean, who will be replaced by Pep Guardiola at the end of the season, was not able to finish on a winning note as Arsenal twice fought back to draw 2-2.

The result leaves City’s hopes of qualifying for the top four in the balance, with Manchester United two points behind with a game in hand.

During his time with the club, Pellegrini won the Premier League once and the League Cup twice.

“It was not the way we wanted to finish,” he said afterwards. “We wanted to qualify for the final of the Champions League and win today, but I have had three wonderful years here, unforgettable years.

“I say thanks to the fans and don’t change. I won’t forget you. I am sure next year you will be very successful in all competitions.”
