Eden Hazard’s father says his son is fully focused on playing for Chelsea and still wants to win trophies at Stamford Bridge.

Hazard has been linked with a move away from the west London club, with Manchester United listed as a potential suitor for his services in one national newspaper report on Friday.

Real Madrid have been mentioned as a possible destination for Hazard ever since Zinedine Zidane’s public praise of the player in November. Zidane has since taken over as manager at the Bernabeu.

But Hazard’s father, Thierry, insists his son is fully committed to playing for Chelsea, where he hopes to win more silverware.

“Eden is completely focused on Chelsea,” Hazard’s father told Belgian newspaper Het Niewsblad.

“Even with Chelsea he still has ambition. Winning a title might be hard, but finishing in the top three is still possible.”

Hazard has struggled to recapture last season’s form in the current campaign and has gone 30 games without a goal but he has been blighted by injury and was withdrawn from the Crystal Palace victory with a groin problem after only 16 minutes last Sunday.

Thierry Hazard feels his son is feeling the effects of a gruelling winter schedule and will not be back to full capabilities before he is 100 per cent fit.

“Eden now has two injuries in quick succession,” he said.

“I am convinced that his current groin injury related to the hip injury he sustained earlier this season. These injuries happen because he plays a lot of games.

“Eden plays a kind of football where you have to be 100 per cent. Therefore I hope that he takes the time to hit top form again. He is at an age that he must organise his season and his games wisely.”
