28th High Level meeting of Heads of the United Nations Missions in West Africa

The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa (UNOWA), Mr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas, will chair the 28th High Level meeting of Heads of the United Nations Missions in West Africa, on 11 December 2015 in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire

Context: Under the chair of The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa (UNOWA), Mr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas, the meeting will bring together the Heads of the United Nations Peace Missions in West Africa (UN Mission in Liberia, UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali, Special Envoy for the Sahel, United Nations Integrated Peace-Building Office in Guinea-Bissau, UN Operations in Côte d'Ivoire).

This bi-annual meeting will focus mainly on governance and security developments in the sub-region and discuss ways and means to continue to strengthen coordination between the various UN entities in the sub-region. The Heads of Mission will also review progress in the implementation of their respective mandates.
