Antoine Griezmann insists he’s happy at Atletico Madrid and is not interested in moving to the Premier League.

The France international had been linked by the English and Spanish press with a move to Chelsea in the January transfer window after an exceptional start to the season in La Liga.

The forward has seven league goals so far, most recently against Granada on Saturday, but agreed a new Atletico contract in the summer, and despite the speculation, told the Canal Football Club that he intends to stay at the Vicente Calderon.

“I do not feel the need to play in Ligue 1, nor in the Premier League, or in Serie A,” Griezmann said.

“I am in Spain, I’m happy. Life here, football, I like it all.”

Sky Sports’ Spanish football expert Guillem Balague believes Griezmann can become one of the top five players in the world over the next few years, alongside Barcelona trio Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez, and Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski.

The Atleti man hit 22 league goals last season, his first in the Spanish capital, and has played a key role in the club’s impressive recent form that has seen them win six consecutive games.

Diego Simeone’s side are second in the league, and face Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday evening with progression to the last 16 already secure. Incidentally, the Portuguese side were the last team to beat Atletico when they emerged with a 2-1 victory from the Vicente Calderon in late September.

Balague’s Sky Sports colleague Terry Gibson suggested in the La Liga Weekly podcast that Griezmann would be a logical target for Chelsea, who have struggled in front of goal this season, but cautioned that any move would not be realistic for either club until the summer at the earliest.
