Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel has called on the Super Eagles coach, Lars Lagerback to include the home-based players in his team as he prepares for the World Cup in South Africa.

Daniel, who was at the MKO Abiola Stadium to watch one of the matches in the on-going WAFU Nations Cup, said the home-based players had shown evidence they could represent the country in big competitions.

He described the competition as timely, as there was about two months left to the World Cup.

He added that the coaches should endeavour to encourage and help players from the competition to attain their heights in their career by recommending them to the national teams as the total dependence on foreign-based players might be counterproductive in the long-run.

The Ogun State governor praised the WAFU leadership for creating the opportunity for participating countries to raise new teams capable of taking over from the ageing players.
