BEVERLY HILLS, September 18, (THEWILL) – Indications emerged Friday that public schools in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, would re-open in October.

The State governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, gave the indication, saying the public schools which closed for two academic sessions due to the Boko Haram insurgency would soon be reopened.

He disclosed that he had constituted a nine-man committee to ensure that the October reopening date is met as the report of the committee was submitted on Friday.

Speaking while receiving the report, Shettima said: “Our decision to set up the committee was largely informed by the need to radically reinvigorate the sector with a view to making it a formidable model of excellence worthy of emulation.”
