Land Speculators Cautioned In Imo

By Chigozie Uzosike

It is no longer business as usual as land speculators in the state have been cautioned and warned to stay away frm meddling with government lands.

Speaking to newsmen in Owerri, the member representing Owerri west constituency in Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Victor Onyewuchi who said this during the inauguration of the committee on land, survey and urban planning insisted that the committee will not tolerate any act of land speculation in the state.

He posited that the committee will beam its searchlight on those who bring bad name to the government and ensure that their dirty acts are stopped, adding that those who have not developed their lands should do so because according to him, any land not developed will be revoked and given to people who are interested in making use of the lands.

Onyewuchi asserted that people who want to buy lands must go through the normal process by obtaining their original certificate of occupancy and avoid fraudsters who are there to dupe them.

Reacting on the issue of the bad road at Old Nekede, he called on the people to be patient as government is sensitive to the plights of his constituents, stressing that while they use the by-pass created by government, they should be sure that in no time the road will be fixed, regretting that the road has to go that bad.

He condoled with the family of the catholic Rev. Fr. who was shot dead by hoodlums around Avu junction. He called on the security agencies to ensure that the killers are brought to book as soon as possible.
