A Reverend (Dr.) Ebenezer Oladipupo, 60 of the Chapel of Bible Faith Mission, Iju-Ishaga, Agege, Lagos has divorced his 60-year old wife.

The marriage which was contracted 36 years ago was dissolved by an Agege Grade 'A' Customary Court following a petition filed by the pastor accusing his wife of being fetish and troublesome.

Dr. Oladipupo had in divorce suit No. AGCC/A97/2010 accused his wife and mother of seven children, Wale (36), Bolanle (31), Ponle (28), Iyabo (27), Michael (25), Bukky (21) and Bisoye (15) of always nagging which had resulted in his developing hypertension, adding that he now lives on drugs.

He told the court that his wife made life unbearable for him and at a point in his life he cursed the day he met her, stressing that she was not in anyway the virtuous woman expected in the house of a pastor.

The clergyman told the court that he had since realised that there was no more love in the marriage and since he doesn't want to be killed, he wants the marriage dissolved.

His words: “I don't want to kill and don't want to be killed. Due to my job, I always want to have people around me. Anybody she sees with me, she believes are my lovers. I love my job.

“My family abandoned me because of her behaviour. I am now hypertensive and live on drugs. She is very stubborn. She joined Celestial Church of Christ without my knowledge. She is fetish and always lied against me. She tells people that I am fetish and not a man of God. She almost drove all the people in my church away. I want the dissolution of the marriage,” he told the court.

In her response, Mrs. Oladipupo said that her husband abandoned her for years without taking care of her.

“My family called him to settle the matter but he did not care. He ignored my family. There is no love again but I don't want to divorce him,” she told the court.

Delivering judgment in the petition, the court president, Alhaji N.M. Borikini, said based on the evidence of both parties, it was obvious that the marriage had broken down irretrievably and therefore dissolved the union.

Reacting to the judgment, the couple's eldest child, Wale, described it as an act of injustice and a conspiracy between the court and his father.

”Where do they want this 60-year old woman to go at this period of her life,” he asked.

He accused his father of hypnotising his siblings against their mother, all in his bid to make them love his younger lover. ”He intends to bring her into the home after sending our mother away,” he added.

The enraged 36-year old who disclosed this to P.M.NEWS during an interview, vowed to appeal the judgment.

“My father has been able to win five of his children to his side and since he hypnotised them, they don't want to see my mother. I suspect that he is doing all this so as to bring in his younger lover who teaches in his school. His lover teaches in his Future Hope Nursery and Primary School, Ishaga, Lagos,” he said.
