Senate Approves 15 Special Advisers For Buhari

SAN FRANCISCO, June 03, (THEWILL) – The Senate has approved President Muhammadu Buhari's request to appoint 15 Special Advisers for his government.

The Senate Wednesday gave the President the approval after a letter containing his request was read at the floor of the Senate.

President Buhari, in the letter, his first to the Senate since his inauguration, explained that the request was in line with Section 151 (2-3) of the 1999 Constitution as amended.

“Pursuant to the provision of Section 151 (1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) which confers on me to appoint Special Advisers to assist me in the performance of my functions.

“I write to request for your kind consideration and approval of the distinguished members of the Senate of the Federal Republic to appoint Fifteen (15) Advisers as prescribed in Section 151 (2-3) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended),” the President, who is presently on his first official visit outside Nigeria, wrote.
