Governor Adams Oshiomhole has extolled the virtues of the late Chief Judge of the old Bendel State, Justice J.O Akpovi, saying he made invaluable contributions to the development of the judiciary.

The governor paid tribute to the late Akpovi in a condolence message to the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Cromwell Idahosa, on Thursday, a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Peter Okhiria, said.

The governor stated, 'I wish to convey to your Lordship the condolences of the people and government of Edo State on the death of Hon Justice J.O Akpovi, Chief Judge of old Bendel State.

'By his death, our state and region have lost one of the most illustrious veterans of the Bench. As chief judge of the old Bendel State, Justice Akpovi made remarkable contributions to the development of the judiciary, which gave the Bench in the new Edo State a good start upon its creation.

'We join you and his family to pray Almighty God to grant him eternal rest and reward his conviction as a believer. We also pray fortitude and comfort for the family he has left behind.'
