PROVIDE QUALITY LEADERSHIP, DANIEL TELLS NEW HOS

The Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has urged the state's new Head of Service, Mrs. Iyabo Odulate, to provide the required leadership qualities capable of developing the civil and public service in the state.

Speaking at the inauguration of Odulate at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, on Wednesday, Daniel asked the new Head of Service to consolidate the gains of democracy achieved by the current state administration in the last seven years.

The urged the HOS, reputed to be the longest serving permanent secretary in the state, to cross-fertilise ideas with her colleagues in the public service by motivating them for optimal results.

The governor said, 'You are appointed at a crucial time in the developmental process and changes in the fortune of our dear state.

'It is pertinent that as the Head of Service, you have to provide a leadership quality that does not offer to maintain the status quo but propel greater development for our state.

'As a leader, you must not set your eyes on the bottom line, but on the horizon. You must realise that you need the vigour of a true leader to motivate your constituency.'

The governor reiterated the commitment of his administration to providing enabling environment for all cadres of people within and outside the public service, adding that adequate and effective facilities would be provided for the state civil servants.

Odulate renewed her commitment and loyalty to the doctrine of conducting government's business in creative and measurable ways.

The HOS, who, until her appointment, was the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, said, 'I covenant myself to providing effective leadership.'
