Charles Inojie Emerges As The President Of Screen Writers’ Guild Of Nigeria

On Friday 17th April 2015, ace writer, comedian, actor and director Charles Inojie emerged as the president elect of the Screen Writers Guild of Nigeria after winning convincingly. In attendance were most stakeholders like its foundation president Mr. Ekenna Igwe, former president Tony Anih and many others. The electoral officers made up of Sonny Mcdon W, Franca Uju Brown and Obi Okafor conducted what will go down as the most peaceful, free and fair election ever conducted in Nollywood. Some writers linked to the presidency were its vice-president Yinka Ogun and its national secretary Stanley okoronkwo.

Other officers elected include popular actress Ms. Steph Nora Okere for the office of vice-president, the former financial secretary and the only returning executive, Mr. Fredrick Atigogo was elected as the national secretary and fast selling author of “life is all about relationships” Mr. Ekine Stronghold emerged as the national P.R.O polling the highest number of votes in the election.

Congratulatory messages are already pouring in from professionals in the industry praising the quality of the elected officers, stating that they are positive that though the Screen Writers Guild of Nigeria which is the most fundamental guild in nollywood had gone through rough times because of the ill health suffered by the outgoing president Mr. Chike Bryan is poised to retake its rightful place in the industry by selecting capable hands to pilot the affairs of the guild.

In his acceptance speech Mr. Charles Inojie promised to inject new life into the guild and use his clout to attract goodwill to the guild. He said he is committed to uniting writers of all genres of screen writing and position the guild to look out for the general welfare and prosperity of all its members.
