Winning The War Against Vandals

The Corps as a creation of government by the Act of parliament of 2003 as amended in 2007 is saddled with responsibility of protecting the Nations Critical Infrastructure National Assets such as Petroleum Pipelines, Gas Installation, provide Telecommunication Equipments, Transport sector, Rail among others.

In fighting this ugly menace called vandalism the Corps has recorded tremendous achievement in various parts of the country, including fct,Akwa Ibom, Ondo,Oyo,Cross River to mention but a few.

The Corps Chief Executive DR Ade Abolurin says that In Ondo state command of the Corps ,the anti vandal unit intercepted and seized 78kegs of 25 litres and 50 drums loaded with adulterated fuel from suspected vandals .In the course of the operation 3 suspects were arrested and 2 cars seized from them,70 kegs of 25 litres of adulterated diesel were received from the vandals in the Ore axis of Odigbo Local Government area of Oyo state.

In the same vein, 2 suspected vandals were arrested by the anti vandals squad of the cross River state command, the suspects have since been charged to court and they are to face the full wrath of the law.

The success story continued unabated in Akwa Ibom state as 2 suspects arrested by the personnel of the command were charged to court and already convicted. they are to spend 5years jail respectively.

Similarly another suspects arrested by the Oyo state command have been jailed for five years. And three suspect are arrested by the Anti-vandal squad of Delta state command and impounded a truck loaded with 33,000 litres of pms. The suspect are undergoing interrogation says Delta State commandant Clement Adesuyia.

The Corps has reiterated its readiness to continue in this fight until total victory is achieved.

However as a warning note, the Commandant General of the Corps Dr Ade Abolurin has charged vandals of government infrastructure to desist from such refrains act, or face the full wrath of the law. He reiterated that the Corps will have no stone left unturned in ensuring that government effort in bringing about a new lease of life for its people in providing genuine social amenities and national infrastructure is not truncated by a few disgruntled and selfish individuals who are driven by greed and criminal tendencies to acquire wealth illegitimately
