There are mounting indications that the immediate past governor of Gombe State, Senator Danjuma Goje may be arrested over the growing spate of blasts in Gombe State.

Goje, who is All Progressives' Congress (APC) senator representing Gombe central senatorial district was last September arrested in the state by Commissioner of Police Mohammed Abubakar.

Pointblanknews.com gathered that there was a growing concern in security circles that Goje may be the mastermind of the string of recent bomb attacks in the state.

On Monday, President Goodluck Jonathan narrowly escaped death when a blast narrowly missed his convoy. At least three people were killed in the blast and dozens injured.

A top security source told Pointblanknews.com that “with the growing spate of apparently sponsored attacks in the state, we have no choice than to invite him (Goje) to explain all he knows about it.”

Goje is locked in a bitter battle for political dominance with his successor, Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo.

Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya, who served as commissioner for finance in the Goje administration, is the APC governorship candidate and Dankwambo”s main rival in the February 28 election.

Goje, who was governor between 2003 and 2007, the security official said, “ran one of the most repressive administrations in Nigeria.”

Continued the official, “We had tons of petitions against Goje bordering on human rights abuses, even from members of his immediate family.

“We also have documented cases of violent attacks by Yan Kalare aka Goje's killer squad,” observed the police officer, stressing, “with the election drawing near, we need to establish if the attacks are isolated events or linked to the tussle for power.”
