UNN graduates 15,904 students

About 15,904 students will graduate at the 44th convocation ceremony of  University of Nigeria,Nsukka (UNN) holding this week with a breakdown of PhD 331; Masters Degree 1,168; Postgraduate Diploma 177; 1st Degree 14,015; Diploma 213 respectively.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University  Prof. Benjamin Chukwuma Ozumba  stated this on Monday at the 44th convocation press briefing, held at the Enugu Campus of the University, Enugu State.

He said that the convocation is coming shortly after the students had graduated, as graduating students will get their certificates during the convocation. 'This is going to be the tradition of my administration, and concerted efforts are being made to clear the back-log of unsigned certificates and return the university to a resound footing,” he said.

He announced that four eminent Nigerians including a woman have been selected for award and conferment of honorary degrees, even as, women have not featured regularly in these exalted recognitions by the institution.

Ozumba said to sustain the vision and philosophy of the founding fathers of the university, which is 'To Restore The Dignity of Man’, his administration will return academic excellence to its pride of place. . 'I made a personal resolve to promote, reward and institutionalize excellence that is why this 44th convocation is unique as it hinges on excellence. Excellence is the key in the present administration that is why in the first convocation of my administration, I have to return excellence to its pride of place.”
