Sky Bet Championship: December Award Nominees Are Revealed
The nominees for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month and the Manager of the Month for December have been revealed.
Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter, Norwich midfielder Bradley Johnson, Bolton goalkeeper Andy Lonergan and Ipswich striker Daryl Murphy have all been nominated for the player award.
Arter scored in five successive games as Championship table-toppers Bournemouth kept up their promotion chase in December and the versatile Johnson was also regularly on target as he hit five goals in a month for Norwich.
Murphy fired six goals in five December games as Ipswich kept up the pressure on Bournemouth at the top of the table, while Lonergan's athleticism between the posts helped Bolton climb up the table.
Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe and Watford's Slavisa Jokanovic are in the running for the manager's award, along with Middlesbrough's Aitor Karanka and Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy.
Howe steered the Cherries to the Championship summit with a perfect December run of of five wins during which their stylish brand of football was rewarded with 17 goals.
Jokanovic led Watford to four wins, including three on the road, while Karanka oversaw Middlesbrough's haul of 10 points from five games which included three clean sheets and a stirring 2-0 win over then leaders Derby County.
McCarthy kept Ipswich on the promotion trail with his side collecting 13 points from five games.
