Rhys Murphy scored the only goal to ensure Dagenham completed a league double over Bury and moved out of the relegation zone.

Nicky Adams went closest for Bury during the first period, but he volleyed over the bar with 18 minutes gone.

Murphy responded for Daggers in the 39th minute, but goalkeeper Rob Lainton was equal to his close-range shot following Jamie Cureton's centre.

Shortly into the second period and Murphy did beat Lainton to end the goal drought Wayne Burnett's side had found themselves in.

Billy Bingham's shot was deflected up in the air and Murphy volleyed into the net to end Daggers seven-hour drought without a goal in the league.

Bury tried to hit back and nearly equalised when Ryan Lowe was picked out in space in the 63rd minute, but he fired his shot against the post.

David Flitcroft's team were denied a penalty appeal seven minutes from time when Ayo Obileye and Danny Rose came together inside the box. The latter received a booking for simulation.

Bury substitute Craig Jones had an effort blocked on the goal-line by Daggers midfielder Andre Boucaud in the 90th minute as Burnett's team held on for a crucial victory.
