ZAKI OUT OF CONFEDERATIONS CUP

Egypt striker Amr Zaki has been ruled out of the Pharaohs squad for the Confederations Cup, due to a hamstring injury.

Zaki has been replaced by Mohamed Abou Greisha of Ismaili for the competition, which begins on Sunday in South Africa.

Egypt play Brazil in their opening game on Monday.

Although officials say that Zaki is injured, it is also understood that his attitude on the recent trip to Algeria did not impress the coaching team.

Zaki played in the 2010 World Cup qualifier against Algeria on Saturday, which the Pharaohs lost 3-1.

Besides missing the Confederations Cup, Zaki also missed out on a contract with English Premier league club Wigan, with manager Steve Bruce labelling the player “the most unprofessional I have worked with”.
