BEVERLY HILLS, December 17, (THEWILL) – The bubble may have burst for a group of suspected Boko Haram gunmen who had infiltrated some of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, disguising as IDPs, as scores of them were arrested Tuesday evening.

The Boko Haram suspects, said to have flee Bama along with the IDPs a few months ago, were reported to have been isolating themselves and moving in groups at the IDPs camp, resulting in their movement being monitored by the security operatives as well as the Civilian JTF.

They were said to have been rounded up Tuesday evening at one of the IDPs camps when guns and other dangerous objects were found on some of them.

Confirming the arrest on Wednesday, a Civilian JTF member, Abba Kolo, said the suspected terrorists were arrested by the military and Civilian JTF based on insider's information .

“The arrested suspected Boko Haram insurgents, who fled Bama along with IDPs and had form a syndicate along Bama road at Yanshayi opposite Tashan Bama in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, were rounded up by soldiers,” he said.

He added that the arrested suspects were brought to the headquarters of Sector 3 around Gidan Madara 'Milk shop' Tuesday evening before being taken to Giwa Barracks in Maiduguri.

“Those who were arrested yesterday (Tuesday) were said to have been seen on several occasions isolating themselves from the rest of the people at the camp.

“Guns were seen in the possession of some of them which made some other people at the camp to tip off the military and the volunteer youth group who subsequently rounded them up,” he added.

Kolo's confirmation came as military sources, craving anonymity, said: “on receiving information from a member of the public that some people were having illicit meetings at one of the IDPs camp in Maiduguri, we moved to round them up and we were able to arrest some.”
