Airtel Appoints Efeurhobo As Chief Sales Officer

Lagos, Nigeria; November 24th, 2014: Leading telecommunications services provider, Airtel Nigeria, has announced the promotion of Godfrey Efeurhobo, its erstwhile Regional Operations Director, South Region, to the position of Chief Sales Officer.

Efeurhobo, whose appointment takes effect immediately, will be responsible for Airtel Nigeria's regional operation teams, the central sales team and the distribution teams and will report to the office of the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director as a member of the Executive Council.


Speaking on the appointment, Segun Ogunsanya, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Airtel Nigeria said Efeurhobo' s promotion is in fulfillment of Airtel's commitment to taking big bets on its organically groomed talents and to reward consistent performance.


“Airtel will continue to empower exceptional local talents in line with our corporate philosophy of recognizing and rewarding high performers.


“Without a doubt, Efeurhobo is an exceptional talent. Under his leadership, our South Region doubled its Revenue and Customer Market Share and his team in the South has also consistently ranked in the topmost percentile in employee engagement,” he said.


Efeurhobo brings to his new role over 15 years' experience, most of which has been in the telecommunications industry.


He started his professional career with PricewaterhouseCoopers Nigeria before joining Econet Wireless Nigeria in 2002 and was appointed Company Secretary in 2003. He was actively involved in the different acquisition negotiations that saw the Company go through five Organizational changes.


In 2007, he was appointed as the Head of the Commercial Division in the Lagos region, where he was responsible for ensuring that all key performance indicators for the commercial function in the Lagos region were met. In 2008, he was appointed Director: Programmes and Strategy, where his responsibilities included overseeing the Project Management Office (PMO). In 2009, he moved to the Commercial Group as Director Commercial Strategy and Planning. He was subsequently appointed as Regional Operations Director for the South Region in 2010, a position he held until his current appointment.


He is a dynamic professional with experience and exposure spanning across Corporate Advisory Services, Legal consultancy, Company Secretarial, Alternate Dispute Resolution, Corporate Governance, Sales and Distribution, Operations Management, Commercial Strategy and Planning and Program Management.

He is an Alumnus of a number of prestigious institutions of higher learning including London Business School, University of Liverpool, University of Lagos and Ambrose Alli University.
