SAN FRANCISCO, October 06, (THEWILL) - The ban on vehicular movements in Borno State has been extended by another 24 hours.

The ban is now to be lifted Tuesday morning instead of the initial plan of Monday morning.

The Nigerian military authorities announced the extension Sunday in a statement signed by the spokesman of the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army, Col. Sani Usman.

It would be recalled that the military Friday evening announced a ban on all vehicular movements on all roads in the state to prevent any attack by the Boko Haram insurgents during the Eid-el-Kabir festivities.

Though no explanation was given for the new extension, sources said it might not be unconnected with the general insecurity in the state.

The statement announcing the extension of the ban said: 'Please be informed that the embargo on all vehicular movements in the 7 Division Area of responsibility has been extended till 7am on Tuesday, October 7 , 2014. Please disseminate.'
