OSHIOMHOLE GETS SUPPORT FOR NDDC BOARD APPOINTMENT

By NBF NEWS

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has received support for nominating Mr. Donald Omorodion as a board member of the Niger Delta Development Commission.

Omorodion, whose nomination generated controversy and was vehemently opposed by youths from the Orhionmwon Local Government of Edo State, was eventually cleared by the Senate to sit on the NDDC board.

However, while speaking with our correspondent on the issue, the Chairman of an indigenous oil services company, Hensmor Nigeria Limited, Dr. Henry Omorodion, said it would be retrogressive to continue to fight Oshiomhole over the appointment.

Although Omorodion, who is also the Odunanoba of the Benin Kingdom, said that he was not related to the NDDC board appointee, he nevertheless wished him well.

He said, 'There is a limit to the attack on Governor Oshiomhole on the appointment. We can't fight forever; let's support the governor and Donald in the interest of development and upliftment of our area and the state in general.'

The Hensmor chief executive said that he had appealed to youths from Orhionmwon LG to sheathe their swords in the interest of peace and development.

'The truth is that oil in Edo is drilled in their local government and ideally the state's representative on the NDDC board should come from the area, but since the governor has made a choice, we should support him and wait for other appointments,' Omorodion added.

Also speaking on the issue, a youth leader from Orhionmwon, Prince Blaise Orubor, said they would wait for Oshiomhole for future appointments because of the intervention of Omorodion.
