Nigeria: Jet Missing After Take Off

BEVERLY HILLS, CA, June 24, (THEWILL) - A plane flying from Nigeria to Gabon via Cameroun Tuesday lost contact with aviation authorities and has disappeared, according to aviation authorities in Cameroun.

The four-seater plane, with only the pilot on board took off from Kano, northern Nigeria at 1800 hours on Monday en route Libreville in Gabon, where it was scheduled to arrive at 2300 hours, after a stopover in Douala, Cameroon, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.

The plane, owned by Global Aviation, a United States company, did not make it to Douala, the station said, adding that the last contact the plane had with the control tower took place in Mongo, which is two hours flight from the Cameroonian economic capital.

A search and rescue mission to locate the plane has been commissioned by aviation authorities in Cameroun.
