Okpithe Solomon: A Reputable Comrade Community leader cum Engineer with Credibility
Engineer Comrade S. E Okpithe was born in 1952 into a humble family of Chief Okpithe of Ozoro Kingdom in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State. He attended one of the best primary schools in Delta State and Technical College in 1974. He later proceeded to London City and Guilds Institute where he obtained his OND and HND in full technological certificates and Advanced Diploma in computer engineering from the University of Lagos.
As a man that has love for education, he later proceeded to Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State to obtain his MBA. He later attended various management courses in the following universities and centres to boast his educational pursuits in life like University of Calabar, ABU, Zaria, UNIJOS, Yaba College of Technology, Yaba Lagos. Centre for Management Development, Imodu Insitute of Labour Study Ilorin Kwara State. He was a foremost activitist in labour movement for many consecutive years and was a Member Association of Supervisory and Executive Engineers London (ASEE) and former National Treasurer Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (Textile).
He was among those top members that inaugurated the Trade Union Congress (TUC) Leadership. He is the present President of Ozoro progress Union (OPU) and operations manager of First Deep Water Discovery Limited. He is the present Vice President of Isoko Country Club International and Patrons of Emotor Isoko Development Association and Mindset media Limited.
As frontline activist, then he has passion for the pen- push profession which prompted him to see journalism as profession to behold.
As a community leader who sees the affairs of Ozoro Progress Union in Lagos State which all leadership reports to him, he never sees himself as a best leader but knows that God that made him the President of Ozoro Progress Union Lagos State over the years. Engineer Okpithe is a community-based leader whose educational background has sharpen his leadership skills in all ramifications. He is a leader who is consisted with what God has given him and ready to put smiles on the faces of less privileged ones in the society with his little resources at his disposal. He is not carried away by the largesse of this world but ready to put his meritorious commitment to First Deep Water Discovery Ltd without hesitation. He is fondly called as 'Baba' by his co-workers and whiles his fellow contemporaries called him as a leader of transformation with innovative ideas'. Engineer Comrade Okpithe is a peace-loving leader with intellectual credibility and creativity. Due to his distinctive passion for education, he has been invited to various conferences, award ceremonies, seminars and others to deliver lectures both in Nigeria and aboard.
Comrade Okpithe is a man after God's heart with creative vision to excel in life. At 62, Engineer Okpithe still remains one of the innovative community leaders with distinction. His leadership legacies cannot be easily altered in the sands of time. He is a man with his words. He believes that handwork and perseverance helps any prodigious young man or woman to excel in life which he has greatly imparted on his biological children. Barely, two years ago, when Comrade Okpithe lost his elder brother whom, he saw as a twin brother that they did things together in both village and Lagos. The sudden demise of his elder brother made him to see life as nothing and decided to toe the path of humanitarian services to the poor. Ozoro Progressive Union in Lagos is proud of one man called' Engineer Comrade Okpithe'whose leadership integrity is one of the best in Lagos state. Engineer Okpithe 62 years on earth is not 62days which exemplary lifestyle is worthy to be emulated. How time flies, the village boy that used to farm now becomes a reputable engineer and comrade in Nigeria. He is a man that wants to see others excelling in life.
Comrade S. E. Okpithe has received several awards on leadership development and others. He is a man who is not afraid to speak his mind when things are not done properly either in public or private. He is man of many parts whose interests to develop young minds for exploits. In the 80s, his Trade activism brought him to limelight in public circle which his audacious mindset to free the poor masses from callous capitalists in Nigeria. At 62, Comrade Okpithe still believes that Isoko nation can be united if all sons and daughters are ready to educate their children. He believes that education is one of the keys that bring fast development to Isoko nation. That is why today, Engineer Okpithe does not play with education even though his son or daughter is talented, and he or she must pass through the four walls of University education. Education can prepare someone for better opportunities in life. Education is not a waste but long time investment in life. He has appeared in Mindset Hall Fame Leaders, Innovators and Entrepreneurs 2013 and 2014. He is a man that is stabilizing his tempest in the community leadership over the years.
