Why Emir of Kano can't go to his palace

The new Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has not been able to locate to his palace and commence official duties, sequel to the siege laid to the palace by irate youths who are vexed by his choice.

TheĀ  palace of the Emir of Kano continued to be under surveillance on Tuesday, as security men cordoned off the area, to forestall breakdown of law and order.

Even though the official position was that the palace was not ready, Pointblanknews.com learnt that he had to seek refuge at Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso's office for fear of being attacked by protesters.

SanusiĀ  was presented with instruments of Kano Emirship by the Madaki of Kano and chairman of the four-man kingmakers' council, Alhaji Yusuf Nabahani Cigari Ibrahim, at the Government House, Kano.

The instruments comprise the Holy Qu'ran, the 'twin spear' (Tagwayen Masu), the sword, Emir Dabo's hat and the ostrich plumage shoe.

Among dignitaries who had paid a visit to the new emir at the Government House were the Adamawa State governor, Alhaji Murtala Nyako; his Imo State counterpart, Rochas Okorocha; business magnate, Alhaji Aliko Dangote; the Makama, Alhaji Abdullahi Sarki Ibrahim; Professor Isa Hashim; Alhaji Muhammad Aliyu and the Deputy Secretary of the Emirate Council, Alhaji Sarki Waziri.
