The Adamawa State House of Assembly is now completely a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members assembly as the three remaining members of the All Progressives Congress in the House yesterday dumped the party and defected to the PDP.

The defectors are Wafarninyi Theman (Hong constituency); Simon Issa; (Song constituency) and Alhaji Abubakar Jarengol (Mubi North constituency).

While announcing their defection at the floor of the House during plenary yesterday, the lawmakers who were elected to the House under the platform of defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and Congress for Progressive Change, CPC said their actions was sequel to their consultations with their constituencies.

The speaker of the House, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri, while reacting to the development said members had the constitutional right to join any party of their choice.

“By this development, all the 25 members of this assembly are now PDP members”, Fintiri said.

Also reacting to the development, publicity secretary of APC in Adamawa State, Rev Phineas Padio, said the development was normal and would not affect the chances of APC in the elections in the state.

“ Let me make it clear that the movement of those lawmakers will not affect and can never affect the APC in the state being a grassroots party”, Padio said.
