Labour Party's governorship running mate in next month's election; Alhaja Maryam Abimbola Ogunlade has assured Ekiti people that they would have no cause for regret over her choice, if elected to office.

Ogunlade made the promise at the weekend while paying a courtesy visit on the paramount ruler of her hometown, the Elemure of Emure Ekiti, Oba Emmanuel Adebayo Adebowale.

Accompanied by her husband Alhaji Suleman Ogunlade, the female politician narrated how her 57 years existence has been that of service to humanity and the less-privileged.

She said her emergence as Michael Opeyemi Bamidele's running made only last week was divine, promising that she would use her office as further opportunity to serve humanity.

She particularly mentioned how her non-governmental organisation (NGO)  named “Yewande Ogunlade Foundation” had rendered assistance to women and youths in the past.

According to her “Without an inkling that I would go to partisan politics someday, I had assisted several people through my NGO even as a civil servant”

“Today, through my NGO I have trained about three kids at Ijaloke Grammar School located here in Emure Ekiti, just like others from everywhere in Ekiti without knowing their parents”

“There is also one of our beneficiaries now in final year at Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU studying Soil Engineering, who has been enjoying our scholarship scheme for years”

“I see politics as another wider avenue for me to serve the masses and render supports. I promise the people of Emure Ekiti and Ekiti State at large that they won't regret my choice”

Meanwhile, Ogunlade at the event received royal blessing from Elemure of Emure Ekiti and other monarchs from the area.

They included Oba Adewumi Omuyomade, the Olowuro of Orun Ekiti and the Aarinjale of Ise Ekiti, Oba David Adetunji Ajayi who both described her as a woman of integrity.

Also, Leader of a group called “Women in Politics” Mrs Bimbo Ogunleye who claimed to have known Ogunlade for over twenty years said her choice would fill vacuum of women in Ekiti politics.
