Borno lost 29 Billion Naira for refusing to pay counterparts fund

Senator Ahmed Zanna representing Borno Central at the National Assembly has alleged that more than 29 Billion Naira was lost by the state during the tenure of Sen. Ali Sherrif for the administrstions refusal to pay counterparts fund for projects.

Speaking to the press in Maiduguri recently, the lawmaker said;" the state government under Ali Sherrif must be held responsible for Borno's underdevelopment. His refusal made the state to loose more than 29 billion naira "

He absolved lawmakers of any blame becsuse according to him "lawmakers are not in control of funfs apart from their constituency development funds which they utilize judiciously".

"I have drilled 150 boreholes in my constituency within my period at the Senate and used all my MDG connection to construct primary school classrooms to enhance education development in my constituency" he said.

Senator Ahmed Zanna also said that he had attracted N4 billion project in terms of constructing Bama- Maiduguri road which was captured in the Budget but the current insurgency did not allow work on the project to commence.

The senator pointed out that the success of the international coalition in the ongoing war on terror will largely depend on the cooperation they recieve from Nigerian Armed Forces adding that Borno state lost more 100, 000 youth to the insurgency.
