Communities in Ise/Orun Local Government of Ekiti State have decried absence of life-changing social amenities in their midst, just as they declared support for Michael Opeyemi Bamidele of Labour Party in the build-up to June 21st, 2014 Ekiti governorship election.

Dwellers in these communities and other farm settlements had expressed this concern when Bamidele took his campaign rally to their doorsteps on Tuesday.

The people lamented how successive state governments had neglected them since creation of the area council in 1993.

These communities included Ise, Orun, Afolu, Ogbese, Obada, Aba Onisu, Aba Ede, Ajebamidele, Ekemode, Temidire, Ajegunle and Oladoyinbo.

For instance, according to Chief Joseph Oyerinde, leader of Ogbese community “There is no single government presence here. They claim to be operating a free education but we have been paying school fees of our children over the years”

“The four public schools here have been neglected for a long time. Even the N50,000 monthly welfare package the current government is paying, we have not benefited here”

“Our only public health center does not have even a single doctor not to talk of giving out drugs. We need empowerment for our youths and women too”

Oyerinde urged the LP candidate to come to the rescue of his subjects and uplift their quality of life.

Another community leader, Chief Ola Adefila of Obada village also requested for needs such as Boreholes, Agric inputs and loan facilities.

He said “We need these boreholes because we trek a long distance to collect water and during dry season we travel more than three kilometres before we can get water. If we had opportunity, we shall be saved from water-borne diseases like cholera”

While pledging support for Bamidele, Adefila said “we shall be grateful if you provide us with these amenities after voting you as our Executive Governor in Ekiti State, come June 21st, 2014″

Bamidele in his remark however promised to deliver on all his campaign promises adding that his decision to run for governor is to serve the downtrodden in Ekiti State.
