SAN FRANCISCO, May 04, (THEWILL) â€' A 19-year old suicide bomber, Abubakar Umar, was arrested by the Police., Sunday, in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, after a failed mission to blow off the Police A Division, located in the busy central round about area of the town..

The bomber was said to have been arrested after ramming his vehicle into the protective sand bags at the Police A Division but the explosives he was carrying failed to explode.

Local sources said the bomber who drove his Chevrolet Pick-up van into Damaturu from the southern border area confessed to be having some Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in his vehicle, a claim that was later confirmed by the anti-bomb squad of the Yobe State Police Command,who later defused the explosives..

The suspect was said to have been handed over to the 7 Division special operation battalion in Damaturu for further interrogation.

Confirming the incident, the state Commissioner of Police Mr. Sanusi Rufai, said the suspect was on a mission to blow off the A division of the Nigeria Police and kill innocent people at the busy central round about in the heart of the town..

He disclosed that five constructed cylinders with explosives devices, 20 litres of diesel and 10 litres of premium motor spirits were found in the van brought by the lone bomber..

Other items found in his possession,according to the Police Commissioner, include; five 9.5 battery charger, a fire extinguisher containing explosives and a wall clock. He said the suspect is still undergoing interrogation..
