BEVERLY HILLS, CA, April 01, (THEWILL) - The city of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, was again rocked by loud explosions as Boko Haram suicide bombers on Tuesday rammed their explosives-laden vehicles into a military checkpoint, killing some of the soldiers and the suicide bombers as well in the ensuing explosion.

This followed an attack on the Giwa Barracks in the town last week by Boko Haram.

.
Eye witness account said the suicide bombers operating in two separate vehicles at about 1pm rammed their vehicles into two military patrol vehicles at a major military checkpoint in Molai, a village on the outskirt of Maiduguri along the Damboa-Biu road.

The action led to a loud explosion which rocked parts of the town, making residents to scamper for safety.

According to the report, the first suicide bomber hit a patrol vehicle parked by the checkpoint, causing a loud bang and huge fire.

Residents of the area said just as the first explosion was subsiding, the second suicide bomber rammed into another patrol vehicle at the same checkpoint, causing a huge explosion.

Though the casualty figure could not be confirmed when filing this report,a journalist residing in the area said he heard sounds of thunderous blasts.

He disclosed that the development made it difficult to make it for travellers to come into Maiduguri from the area as "the place has been cordoned off and some corpses have been taken away.
