The Enugu State Government will formally take over the managent of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu from the federal governement tomorrow.

A release signed by Chukwudi Achife, Chief  Press Secretary to Governor Sullivan Chime said the hand over ceremnony will take place at the Stadium premises along Ogui Road, Enugu.

The DIrector General of the National Sports Commission Gbenga Elegbeleye, is expected to perform the ceremony on behalf of the federal Government while Governor Chime  will receive the keys and other documents to the stadium on behalf of the Enugu State Government.

It would be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan had in July, this year approved  an application by Governor Chime to the hand over of the stadium to the Enugu State Government.

The Governor had cited as on his reasons for the application the need to enhance development of sports from the grassroot level and to discover young talents in their very early ages.

This had come on the heels of the the Governor’s successful revival of among other things, the secondary School Sports festival after more than twenty years in abeyance.
