Edo Coalition for Democracy and Good Governance, (ECODAGG) has decried the recent bomb scare at the Edo State House of Assembly.

In a statement signed by Tony Erha and Gaskin Otunba Williams coordinator general and coordinator, mobilisation respectively, the group described the bomb as an act of terrorism which should be condenmed by all and sundry.

It noted that 'indeed, this is an inhuman, satanic and act of terrorism, which should be vehemently condemned by every law abiding persons and lovers of peace and mankind. It is an abominable act, which if it was not nipped in the bud, was capable of causing human deaths, injuries, arson, loss of property, public disorder and grief, like the bombing of the World Trades Centre in America and such other anti-human acts, prohibited around the world.'

The group said it was shocked by the revelations by bomb experts and security operatives that the bomb was capable of claiming human lives and destroying buildings within a wide range if it had exploded. It observed that the bomb scare ' is in a chain of atrocious crime into which Edo State has declined' in recent times following the leadership crisis in the state House of Assembly.

ECODAGG also condemned the 'spill-over of such violent clashes to the official residence of the lawmakers, and the touching of the speaker's residence and personal belongings of Mr. Kabiru Adjoto, a lawmaker. The burning-down of the office complex of the Etsako West Local Government Council and attempts to raze the Akoko Edo Local Government secretariat may not be unconnected with the leadership crisis.'

While it appluads the Edo Police Command and other security agents in the state for their neutrality in the leadership tussle in House of Assembly and for having been able to maintain law and order; it observed that not much has been done to prosecute those involved in the bloody clash in the House. It said if the culprits had been apprehended by the law enforcement agents it would have served as a deterrent to those now involved in arson and the bomb attempt.

The group called on the people of the state to be vigilant and be ready to tackle those who are bent on stopping its of progress.
