Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) Decries Poor Revenue

The Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST), Maiduguri territorial area has complained of poor revenue generation due to the activities of the Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East.

The area postal manager, Maiduguri territorial office, Mr Paul Bitrus Ngadda disclosed this on wednesday at a press briefing to mark the postal day.

Mr. Ngadda stated that majority of its customers have relocated to other parts of the country due to the insecurity problem in Borno State, adding that the insecurity have also led to the closure of some of its offices in northern Borno and Gwoza area.

The only offices operating now are Maiduguri and Biu while in some of the outskirt areas we are offering skeletal services. One of our drivers was once attacked and the vehicle use was taken away. Also our office was attacked in March which led to the temporary closure of the office '' the area postal manager said.

On the world postal day with the theme: The post, delivering for people and businesses'', he said the objectives of the day is to among others create awareness about postal services.

Ngadda said that the day is observed by 150 member nations belonging to the World postal union by organizing conferences, workshop, drama among others.
